Flying to Jávea from the UK...

Jávea is located on the Costa Blanca, which is that area of coast between Murcia in the south, and Gandia in the north. The resorts and towns are served principally by the International Airports at Alicante and Valencia. It is also possible to reach the area by using Murcia airport, although this is much smaller, and flights are less readily available. Both Alicante and Valencia airports are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive from Jávea and the properties we offer for rental in and around this town.

Most of the low cost airlines now fly regularly to Alicante or Valencia and flights are now readily available from the following airports in the UK and Ireland (approximate flight times are shown in parenthesis):

  • London Gatwick (2 hours 40 minutes)
  • London Heathrow (2 hours 30 minutes)
  • London Stansted (2 hours 50 minutes)
  • London Luton (2 hours 30 minutes)
  • Birmingham (2 hours 45 minutes)
  • Coventry (2 hours 35 minutes)
  • Cork (1 hours 35 minutes)
  • East Midlands (1 hours 55 minutes)
  • Bristol (2.5 hours)
  • Bournemouth (1 hour 15 minutes)
  • Doncaster (2 hours 10 minutes)
  • Dublin (1 hours 30 minutes)
  • Manchester (2 hours)

Airports near to Jávea...

Alicante Airport is around the 7th busiest Airport in Spain and serves destinations such as Alicante itself, Benidorm, Denia, Calpe, Torrevieja and all points along the Costa Blanca. In 2005, this airport dealt with 8, 795, 705 passengers. Around 80% of all passenger traffic at Alicante Airport comes from International flights with the UK, Holland, Germany, France, Italy and Sweden being amongst the biggest number of visitors. Since 1995 the number of passengers using Valencia Airport has more than doubled to 4,650,000 in 2005. This huge increase in passenger numbers can be explained by the introduction of a large number of low cost flights from the UK and Europe and a marked increase in the number of foreign property owners in Valencia and to the south along the Costa Blanca. It is calculated that 60% of all passengers arriving at Valencia Airport are from internal Spanish flights and the remaining 40% is mostly from other EU Countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy and France. The Valencia Airport Terminal is spread out over 3 floors with the main activity for Arrivals and Departures taking place on the ground and 1st floors.

Once you have flown to the Costa Blanca, the journey across to Jávea is straightforward. We provide written instructions to our clients which take them from their airport to our local office in Jávea. The directions from Alicante are as follows:

Alicante Airport is about 90 km from Jávea (Xŕbia).  The AP-7 motorway runs north-south a few kilometres from the coast.

As you leaving Alicante Airport, follow blue motorway signs to Valencia.  LOOK OUT FOR SPLIT IN MOTORWAY AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES.  TAKE RIGHT SLIPWAY FOR VALENCIA.  (If you miss this you will find yourselves driving south towards Murcia.) After a short distance the motorway will become a toll road.  “Tome su Ticket” – take ticket at barrier.  Drive for approx. 35 minutes to Junction 63 – Benissa / Teulada / Gata de Gorgos.  Hand in ticket and pay just under 5 euros.

§       Take second slip road right to Teulada and Jávea.  Pass under motorway flyover to join N-332 to Valencia.  Follow the road downhill for about 3 km, passing a large Garden Centre on the right, until you reach a roundabout.

§       At the roundabout follow the signs to the right to Teulada (CV740).  You will then approach a second roundabout – go straight over and then under a railway bridge.

§       At the third roundabout turn left, taking the second exit, signposted Xŕbia.  Then at the fourth roundabout take the first right into a dual carriageway taking you through the town of Teulada, keeping to the left hand (outside) lane.  You will pass through 5 sets of traffic lights.

§       Remaining in the left hand lane you will approach a roundabout junction.  Take the opposite exit at this roundabout - Benitaxell, Jávea (Xŕbia) (CV740).  After 400 m. you will pass a restaurant on the right – Rincon de Oliver.

§       Follow twisty, scenic road (CV740), past vineyards, orange groves, and orchards.  After 3 km enter Benitaxell (Benitachell).

§       Very soon after entering village, take care to follow right hand bend for Moraira and Xŕbia.  Village street downhill. Immediately after third set of lights follow the road left to Jávea (Xŕbia) (CV740).  You will see Mas Y Mas Supermarket on your right.

§       NOW GET READY TO TURN RIGHT AFTER 1 KM – just past Devygar Mobles s.l.   Ignore sign for Xŕbia CV740 (straight on) and turn right into Cami Cansalades. (If you pass an ELF CEPSA petrol station on your left you have missed the right turning.)

§       4.5 km drive, taking care at several sharp bends. Pass Inn on the Green, El Campo, Villa Celeste, Aparthotel Pinosol

§       At bottom of hill look out for HALT sign.  Landmark - Carrasco on right as you approach junction. Turn right following the sign to Cap de la Nao into Camino Cabanes.  Nasty junction on the edge of a roundabout – watch out for traffic from left.  Follow road around to right and, at next junction take right fork at GIVE WAY sign (CV742) - Granadella, Cap de la Nao.  Pass El Rancho & Gota de Mar Restaurants and Saladar supermarket.

§       Just after Europa Motors, CAM Bank and Don Antonio restaurant, turn left - CV739 – Cala Blanca, Arenal.  Pass a complex of town houses called Cala Blanca on left, and apartments with blue pillars on right.  You are now 1 km from JáveaHolidays office.

§       Pass apartment building Golden Gate, and follow left hand bend (sign Duanes de Mar) into Avenida de Ultramar.  Turn left by tennis court into Calle Larissa - side road to left immediately before our office.

How to book a low cost flight...

Most of the low cost airlines now travel regularly to the Costa Blanca, and flights can be quickly sourced and booked online through the airlines websites. Alternatively your local Travel Agent should be able to reserve seats for you although you will find that it is much cheaper to book these direct with the airlines themselves. Please remember that although airlines such as ‘Easyjet' and ‘Ryanair' hold the necessary ATOL licence they are not bonded by ABTA. Most of the airlines operate a ‘Free Seating' policy. This means that you can choose where you sit on the aircraft. EasyJet, for example, operates a strict priority boarding system and this means you will be boarded by the sequence you checked-in at.

The aircraft are generally boarded in groups, starting with passengers travelling with young children and passengers requiring assistance, followed by passengers with group ‘A' boarding cards, then B, C and finally group D.

The airlines do of course appreciate that there are some passengers who require assistance and wherever possible they will do our best to assist.

You should also be aware that most of the low cost airlines operate a ‘non-refundable' ticket policy. We strongly advise you to familiarise yourself with the airlines 'Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage', but you should be particularly aware of the following:

You may normally cancel your booking within 24 hours of making the original booking, but do note that a cancellation can only be processed up to two (2) hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. You will normally receive a refund from the airline (including taxes and charges but excluding any credit card fee) but a cancellation fee per passenger per journey will usually be charged. Most of the airlines are unable to offer refunds in the event of passengers being unable to fly owing to any change in personal circumstances, including but not limited to medical grounds, with the exception of the application of the 24 hour cancellation policy.

Perhaps most significantly you should be aware that if your flight is cancelled as a result of extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided (for example Air Traffic Control disputes, inclement weather conditions, terrorist alerts and security alerts, strike action, civil unrest or unexpected flight safety shortcomings) most of the airlines will not compensate you further other than providing you with one of the following options (“Re-routing and Reimbursement Options”):

You will be entitled to:

1. Re-routing to your final destination at the earliest opportunity; or

2. Re-routing to your final destination at later date at your convenience and subject to availability; or

3. A refund of the fare paid for the journey not made and for the journey already made where the flight no longer serves the purpose of the original travel plan. where relevant, we will offer a return flight to the first point of departure at the earliest available time.

Please note that ‘Truly jávea' does not offer flight reservation services, although we can assist clients in looking for flight information and booking procedures if they wish.

Getting from the airport to your holiday villa or apartment...

Once you have flown to the Costa Blanca we are able to offer you either car hire or transfers to and from Jávea.

www.spanish-villa-holidays.co.uk/car-hire-information.htm - click here for information on car hire

www.spanish-villa-holidays.co.uk/transfers.htm - click here for information on airport transfers

Listed below are the published rates for 2005/6, and these fares are considered to be per car including luggage. Please note that taxis at the Costa Blanca airports can only carry a maximum of 4 people including any children, so if there are more than 4 people it is advisable to book transfers or hire car - this should be taken into consideration when comparing the cost of a taxi with that of an airport transfer – remember that more than one taxi may well be needed for a family of 4 or more guests. Note that these figures are not legally binding and you should ask the driver of the taxi what the total fare price will be:
